On 24th January 2025, the ACCF team had the privilege of visiting the Royal Far West Kids Charity Centre.
Royal Far West is an Australian charity committed to the health and wellbeing of children in rural and remote communities. As the country’s only integrated provider of health, education, and disability services for children and families in these areas, their mission is of great significance. ACCF has been proud to support Royal Far West over the years through our Community Projects Grant program.
According to the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), children from rural and remote regions are twice as likely to begin school developmentally vulnerable compared to their urban counterparts. This highlights the critical need for services that address the health and developmental needs of these children and their families.
During our visit, ACCF team members were particularly impressed by the wraparound services provided by Royal Far West. The service does not only focus on clinical therapies such as paediatric, psychological, individual and family counselling, occupational therapy, it also provides support to families and schools to ensure a 360-degree support to the child. The positive impact of these services on country children and families is both profound and deeply valued.
The ACCF team was pleased to learn about their ongoing plans for expanding and enhancing their guest house and other facilities to ensure sustainability of the service.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Royal Far West Kids Charity for hosting us. We wish them great success in their service and look forward to hearing positive outcomes from the ‘Meeting psychological needs of children at risk’ project. (ACCF has approved funding of $10,000 contributing to this project to be implemented 2025.)
