ACCF AND NSW CHINESE COMMUNITY NEW YEAR CELEBRATION DINNER 2011

ACCF and the NSW Chinese Community celebrated the year of Rabbit on 5 February 2011 at Marigold Restaurant. It was well attended with over 400 guests and community friends. This year the Foundation was most honoured to have our Honorary Patron, Her Excellency the Governor of NSW Prof. Marie Bashir AC CVO and her husband Sir Nicholas Sherhadie as the event’s special guest of honour. Other dignitaries included the Hon. Kate Lundy representing the Prime Minister, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull representing the Federal Opposition leader, the Hon. John Hatzistergos representing the Premier of NSW, Mr Barry O’Farrell, leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Virginia Judge, Mr Greg Smith MP, Ms Gladys Berejiklian MP and Mr Victor Dominello MP.

The beneficiaries of the evening’s fundraising activities were Careflight Helicopter and Queensland Flood Victims. The Foundation kick started the appeal by donating $10,000 to each of the beneficiaries. At the same time the Queensland Flood became one of the worst flooding seen in recorded history. Hence, in partnership with TVBA and the Chinese Media, an urgent appeal was made to the Chinese Community and within a few weeks before the Dinner function, over $270,000 was raised and all money was donated through the Salvation Army.
