The Festival of Nations was held at Darling Harbour on 12 October 1996 and between 60 – 70,000 people attended the festival. The main components of the festival were a “Children of the World” Parade (organized by the NSW Federation of Ethnic Schools) ; three mainstage concerts from noon until night (“Colours of the Rainbow”, “United Australia Celebration” and “Concert Under the Stars”); ACCF Honours Exhibition Tent; Games Corner; “Festival Snapshot” Photo Competition; and many food and craft stalls, and raffles. The Guest of Honour was His Excellency, the Hon. Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of NSW.
